The Ahrefs SEO Toolbar is an on-page and redirect checker from a large vendor, and for that job it costs nothing. Without an account it reads titles, meta descriptions, headings, canonicals, hreflang and robots rules, traces redirect chains including JavaScript ones, and exports outgoing links to CSV. A free sign-in adds Domain Rating and URL Rating for any site.
Backlinks, referring domains, traffic and keyword counts are where the bill starts, at $29 a month for Ahrefs Starter, and Safari users do not get the Metrics Bar at all. For on-page checks alone, Detailed SEO Extension is free with no upsells. MozBar's free account shows Domain Authority and Page Authority instead, and its premium bar comes with Moz Pro Standard at $99.
What Ahrefs SEO Toolbar does
The free toolbar checks titles, meta descriptions, word count, headings, canonicals, noindex/nofollow, hreflang, sitemap and robots.txt rules, traces redirect chains (including JavaScript) and reads HTTP headers. It highlights and filters outgoing links, finds broken or redirected ones and exports them to CSV, and lets you switch Google country, language and domain without a VPN. Signing in free adds Domain Rating and URL Rating, URL lists, raw vs rendered HTML comparison, image alt checks and user-agent simulation. A paid Ahrefs plan adds backlinks, referring domains, traffic and keyword counts on every page and SERP result, a metrics bar, SERP export of the top 100 and keyword metrics in Google Trends.
